Our Impact on Employees

Agrium has a significant impact on our employees’ career development and financial goals. Our programs and policies directly impact workplace safety and create a work environment where they are comfortable to grow. We strive to create an environment where all employees feel valued and are engaged in the implementation of our corporate strategies and sustainability vision.

To hire and retain the best employees we must strive to be a top employer. Agrium received this honor this year appearing in the list of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. We were also awarded as one of Alberta’s Top 50 places to work.

Ingredients for a Healthy Workplace:

A Safe Workplace: We have tried to make safety the core of our culture. Our safety management program requires the active participation of all employees through a variety of inspection, training, protection and communication tools. Through our programs and training initiatives we aim to have zero incidents at all our locations.

Employee Engagement: The way to improve any relationship is to get continuous and honest feedback. We engage employees in a variety of ways. We encourage feedback on what the company is doing well and areas for improvement through the Voice of the Employee survey. We discuss company activities through numerous avenues, including Coffee with the Executives sessions, our Intranet, an Ask the Executive e-mail address and an internal bimonthly newsletter called Food for Thought.

Community Involvement and Support: We encourage and support our
employees to get involved in their communities through company-organized volunteering opportunities. Our Employee Community Participation Program makes contributions every year to employee-suggested causes.

A Diverse Workplace: Given the growth and global nature of our Company, we need a broad range of people with varying skill-sets and experiences. We look for new hires that bring different perspectives to the company and encourage all employees to share their ideas, knowledge and culture with us so that we may grow collectively.
